Hi guys,
The Spring season is winding down. This is the last week for girls softball games so if you want to see YOUR team play - try to come out this week.

The High School Trailblazer baseball team got back from Atlanta late Friday.
They lost their third game earlier on Thursday 7-2. Even though the boys were extremly disappointed they had a blast and are looking forward to going further next year.
The Trailblazers were the only first year team out of four that didn't end up in the consolation game. For those of you unfamiliar with baseball - it means that the Blazers were the only first year team to win one of their first two games and therefore have a chance to continue in the tournament!!
That is a HUGE accomplishment and kudos go out the the players and coaches for such a great showing our first year at the Homeschool World Series. They ended up tied for 9th (out of 16 teams) A special congratulations goes out to Josh Kleinman and Jeremy Woody for making the all-star tournament team. They will be playing in an all-star tournament sometime in May. From that tournament, 16 players will be chosen to compete in a HUGE National 9- day tournament in Florida. That tournament will have top teams from all over the country (not just homeschooled teams) and will be attended by college and professional scouts. Please pray for them - that God will direct their paths and open the doors He wants open for them.
These guys are going to incur additional expenses, in order to participate in this tournament and represent WCAA, so if you would like to sponsor them and help them out with travel and room expenses - please contact Allen Mullins at allen@specinvest.net.

Thanks so much for all your support for the Trailblazers - YOUR sports teams, Dari Mullins WCAA Public Relations

March 18, 2008 Update

First we want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to the many fans that came out in the cold to cheer the High School Girls Soccer team as they played Enka High under the lights in the school's Football Stadium on March 17th.  Great day for the Green Team!!

The girls played a GREAT game and came out with a tie - 1-1. Jordan Woody made the tying goal with less than 30 sec left!! We had MANY more shots on goal and the girls all played AWESOME. I would mention the stand out players, but I know I would miss someone - and in all honesty ALL of the girls played very well.  Look for a details in the Asheville Citizen Times sports section (3-18-08)

Coach Steve Woody was very pleased and all of the parents were excited to see these girls do so well so early in the season. They were able to tie a Varsity team and it was only the second game that the Trailblazers had played
together!!

The other coach was also pleased with the game. He couldn't believe the number of fans that we brought!!! We must have had between 60-80 Trailblazer fan's there!!! We really appreciate all of the support the homeschool community is giving these teams!!

Take care,
Dari Mullins

Trailblazers have winning week!!

Hi all,
Just wanted to let you guys know about the great first week that the Trailblazer Spring Sports teams had and say thanks to all of you that supported the players!!

Girls softball - Played a tough scrimmage on Tuesday against the defending conference champs for Buncombe County- Valley Springs. With our starting pitcher sick - our girls suffered a loss 20-2. Their second game - the girls played Bowman Middle School in Yancey County and WON 24-3!! Even with our starting pitcher still sick - the back up pitchers did wonderful and the girls enjoyed a successful second game.

Middle School Soccer - The girls played a tough one against Enka Middle School and lost 6-1. The girls are excited about the season and looking forward to playing together in spite of the tough loss.

High School Soccer -  The girls traveled east to play Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy and won 8-0. The girls had a blast and are ready to play 3 BIG games this coming week.

High School Boys Baseball -  The boys won against Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy 24-3!! The high school team looked great and they are having fun!!!

So- all in all - the Trailblazers (aka Blazers) had a winning week with 3 wins and 2 losses. We appreciate the support and especially the prayers. We believe that God  is  with our teams and we acknowledge his Hand in enabling the WCAA to pull off such a successful year!

To keep up with the Trailblazer's check out the website www.wncaa.org. We will be sending out weekly updates and schedules each weekend. We realize that sports isn't the most important thing to our children, but the opportunity for the homeschoolers to come together and unite is forming great bonds between our families. Even if your children are young, or do not play sports COME AND JOIN US at the games to fellowship and encourage other homeschoolers.

Thanks so much,
Dari Mullins
