TRAILBLAZER MSB ANNOUNCEMENT

 Come out & support your
Western NC Homeschool Athletic Association

The Trailblazers will be having a Carwash, Yard & Bake Sale

The Trailblazer Middle School Girls Volleyball team won the Emmanuel Lutheran School Volleyball Tournament this past weekend. There were four teams including Asheville Christian Academy (ACA), Hendersonville Christian, Emmanuel Lutheran and WCAA Trailblazers.
The first few games were pool play and the Trailblazers ended up in first place with a 5-1 record. Emmauel Lutheran was also 5-1, but because the Trailblazers had a larger point spread - they were seeded first.
On Saturday the girls played a great first game against Hendersonville Christian winning 25-13  and 25-14. This win put them in the championship game against Emmanuel Lutheran, who had beat ACA to get in the finals.
The tension was great and the Trailblazers let their nerves get the best of them loosing the first game - 21-25. But the girls came back strong and came back to win the next two games 25-19 and 15-4. This gave them first place in the tournament.
Several players were named to the all-tournament team. They were:
Rachel Taylor, Bethany Owenby, Ashley Smith and Heather Perry.

Congratulations to All of the Middle School Girls Volleyball Team!!

GO TRAILBLAZERS!!

Ingles Scrip
This is a continuing/ongoing fundraising event. This is an easy way for our organization to earn money with little effort.

WCAA purchases Ingles gift cards (called scrip) from Ingles. WCAA members sell these gift cards to family & friends for the cards face value. Ingles makes a 5% donation to WCAA for each dollar that is sold. With the Ingles gift card you can purchase groceries, gas (with a gift card, gas is three cents off per gallon), prescriptions, postage stamps, movie rentals, deli, and even Starbucks.

You may contact WCAA scrip coordinator - Chris Taylor @ 687-3703 or email her at ccbr4t@mchsi.com for more information or to order scrip cards. Chris also has a list of WCAA scrip distributors.

4% of scrip sales will go into the WCAA member account and 1% goes to the WCAA. Example: if a WCAA member sells $100 worth of Ingles scrip cards, then that member receives $4 in their personal account and WCAA earns $1.  This has proven to be an easy way for WCAA members to help pay for athletic fees and personal athletic equipment. Since this program has been implemented (Dec. 2006), many WCAA members have sold the Ingles scrip cards and earned enough money in their personal account to pay for a full season of athletic fees.  Many have been reimbursed at the end of the season for fees or athletic equipment such as:  shoes, cleats, shin guards, and other athletic equipment.  This is a great way for players to earn money to help offset fees and allow WCAA to earn funds as well.

Fundraising while buying Groceries and gas!!

Just in case you still have questions about scrip - what it is, how it works,  what you can use it for - here is a really great explanation from WCAA Board member, Cindy Arnette that should dial it all in for you...

"Many parents new to WCAA have asked about Ingles Scrip.  Hopefully this will explain what it is and why you will want to buy it.  Ingles Gift Cards are a fundraiser for WCAA.  Just as important, they are a fundraiser for you. When you purchase Ingles gift cards (called scrip) from your WCAA Scrip Coordinator, you make money!  For every $100 of Scrip that you purchase, you earn $4.00 in your athlete's personal account.  WCAA earns $1.00.

With the Ingles gift cards you can purchase groceries, gas (with a gift card, gas is three cents off per gallon), prescriptions, postage stamps, movie rentals, deli items and even Starbucks in most locations.  This will help off set fees, pay for athletic related items and allow WCAA to earn funds. If you sell to your friends and family, that money is also credited to your athlete's account.  If you have already paid your registration fee, you can still earn fees for another sport, or earn back your registration fee by buying Scrip.  Do you have any hungry or driving teenagers in your home?  If so, instead of cash, give them an Ingles Scrip card.  They can buy gas or eat lunch at the deli.  You won't have to worry they will run out of gas or be hungry!

WCAA parents buy a lot of Scrip and it goes very quickly.   Don't forget to ask family and friends so their purchases can be directed to your athlete's account."

Don't forget that when you buy Ingles scrip cards to purchase your gas and groceries you are helping to fund the fantastic WCAA programs AND you are also offsetting the fees for your child(ren) to participate in their sports programs   In addition, it's clear that Ingles has just about the best price on gas in the area.  When you use your Ingles scrip card it's 3 cents a gallon cheaper - and we all love saving money on gas, don't we?!  But, make sure you have enough cards because those gas tanks really guzzle them down and you need to be sure you have enough left to buy dinner after you fill up!

So consider how much you think you're going to spend on gas and groceries over the next 3-4 weeks and contact your scrip distributor to order ASAP.

If you still have questions regarding scrip or want to know how much money you have earned in your Trailblazer athletic account or how to make a withdrawal, contact WCAA Scrip Coordinator, Chris Taylor at:
ccbr4t@mchsi.com or 687-3703.

Start buying now and you can have all of your sports fees earned before the season ever starts!  Just by purchasing gas and groceries for your hungry family and hungry cars!

Fundraising couldn't get any easier!!
