TRAILBLAZERS TAKE SECOND IN NATIONALS!!

The Trailblazers Varsity Girls Soccer team took second in The Homeschool National Tournament this weekend (May 9th & 10th) in Kansas City!! The last game was soooooo close it took 2 OTs and Penalty Kicks to decide the outcome!! Listed below are the game recaps from the tournament. The team (and parents) would like to thank you for your prayers and interest in the team.

The first game on Friday vs. KC East    Trailblazers -7  KC- 1
This was the easier game of the weekend. The girls dominated the field and stayed on offense most of the game. Our goals were scored by:Jordan Woody(2) Alex Coffey (2), Lindsey Anderson, Ashton Eisenhut and Charlotte Douglas. KC East had only 6 shots on goal and Autumn Mullins (goalkeeper) had 3 saves.

The second game on Friday vs. Tulsa   Trailblazers - 2  Tulsa - 1
This game was a much tougher team with bigger and older girls. They were stunned when the Trailblazers scored first and we kept them off balance during the rest of the game. Tulsa outshot the Trailblazers 20 to 8. Autumn had 8 saves and a GREAT defense that helped to upset Tulsa and hand them their first loss of the season!!

The Championship game on Saturday vs. Dallas Eagles
Trailblazers 2 - Dallas -2    2 OT  PK - 3-4
This was the ultimate nailbiter and the roughest game the Trailblazers had faced all season. The Trailblazers scored first - Dallas came right back and scored - then Trailblazes scored again. It stayed 2-1 most of the game, but then Dallas shot one more in to tie it. The game went into 2 five minute sudden death  overtimes with no score.
The game then went  into Penalty Kicks.
Trailblazers made our first one (scored by Chloe Woody) - then Dallas made their first one. Blazers  missed our second one and then Autumn saved Dallas' second one. Trailblazers made our third (scored by Jordan Woody) - Dallas made their third. Blazers had our fourth shot blocked and then Dallas made their fourth.  Trailblazers made our fifth shot (scored by Tessa
Shepard) and then Dallas made their fifth shot to win the game!! The girls were disappointed but realized that PKs can go either way. Overall their team did keep us on defense most of the time. They had 30 shots on goal - we had 13. Autumn Mullins had a great game with 15 saves and an awesome Trailblazer defense that kept the game to a tie. Our goals were made by Jordan Woody and Chloe Woody. The Penalty Kicks were made by Jordan, Chloe and Tessa Shepard. Coach Woody was very proud of the girls and said as far as he was concerned we were "Co-champions" b/c we held them to a tie through 90 minutes!!

The following players were named to the national all-tournament team:
Tessa Shepard, Jordan Woody, Chloe Woody and Autumn Mullins

Thanks so much for all of your support for this team!!

The WCAA High School Girls Soccer Team won the NCHE/AC State Homeschool Championship title on May 3  in Winston-Salem.

The Trailblazers (green team) first game was against Forsyth County. The green team had 33 shots on goal, but were only able to score 1 (by Jordan Woody), but that is all it took! The girls held the other team to only 7 shots on goal and NO score. Sweeper, Tessa Shepard had an incredible save that appered to all to be going into the goal after taking a bounce over the Trailblazer Goalie's head! The final 1-0 - Trailblazers.

The second game was against the Fayetville Crusaders, a very young team. The Trailblazers won 12-0 to capture the state title. Several players were named to the All-tournament team including Tessa Shephard, Jordan Woody, Chloe Woody, Kalib Robinson and Marissa Moraga.

We would like to thank all of our fans and ask you to continue to pray as the girls travel to Kansas City, MO to play in a National Homeschool Soccer Tournament this Thursday, May 7. They will be playing Friday and Saturday and then traveling back on Sunday. Have a great day!!
