Boys Baseball:
Middle School Baseball 2007 Season
The first
season for the Trailblazers Middle School baseball team was an
exciting and fun one. We finished the season with a 2-5 record
and although that wasn’t a winning record, we counted it as a great
season. We faced public school teams who were established
programs and fielded 7th and 8th graders, while our team fielded
mainly 5th, 6th, and 7th graders. For most of our players it
was their first season playing on 90 foot bases with a 60 foot
mound. With these disadvantages our team was able to win two
games and play competitive in the rest.
The team
started largely as a group of strangers who only had homeschooling
and Christian principles in common, and through hard work and great
attitudes became a team. It was wonderful to watch that group
of young men grow close and form bonds that will carry over to the
next season. Many people got their first impression of
homeschoolers through this team, and their sportsmanship and field
conduct was a great example.
Next season
promises to be even better as the team becomes the same age as their
competition. Our goal will be to win more games and to equip
the players to contribute at the high school level while stressing
Christian values. We look forward to taking last year’s
players to the next level, and bringing in some new talent to build
on.
If you are
interested in becoming part of this excellent program as a player or
a coach we would love to have you join us. This is just the
beginning of what will surely become a winning tradition for years
to come.
Sincerely,
Roger Cawthorne – Head Coach
Brian Davis – Assistant Coach
